Madison County Office for the Aging helps older adults and their caregivers live with dignity by providing access to a variety of home and community-based services. Our unique value proposition is that we understand how aging can affect an individual's ability to stay in their current living situation, so we strive to maximize independence for our clients by offering cost-effective non-medical support services tailored to meet each person’s needs.
Our mission is to ensure that all individuals are able to age in place at home while feeling supported and safe. Our vision is simple: We want everyone in Madison County who needs help as they age to have access not only to quality care, but also peace of mind knowing that they can stay close with family members throughout the aging process.
"Just wanted to say Thank you for what you did for my Dad. I know he was challenging at first and you were kind and patient with him.
Thank you for the follow up phone calls not only to check on my Dad, but the calls and talks we had. Checking on how I was doing as well."

Health Brain Project Free Memory Screening at MCOFA
Residents over the age of 60 in seven Central New York counties—Cayuga, Herkimer, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Oswego, and Tompkins—will be able to receive free memory screenings from their local Office for the Aging (OFA) as part of a collaborative project between Upstate Medical University and Syracuse University to assess the benefits of this type of screening in this setting.
"Office for the Aging (OFA) case managers in the selected counties (Madison) have been trained by Upstate staff to administer what is called the “Mini-Cog©,” a three-minute screening tool to assess potential memory loss. The screen can be administered in an individual’s home during a routine visit by OFA staff or at the county office.
OFA case managers will not make any diagnoses based on the screening results; they will only be administering the screening.
If the Mini-Cog shows any sign of memory change, the individual will be referred to Upstate University Geriatricians for a comprehensive geriatric assessment."
If you are interested in a free memory screening and are 60 years or older resident of Madison County, please call 315-697-5700 for more information.
